The 2017 A5 of GPRD Chairman Meeting Held in Shenzhen to Build World-class Airport Cluster in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area

The Chairman's meeting of Five Airports of the Greater Pearl River Delta (A5) was held in Shenzhen on 9th Nov 2017. Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) - Dr. Deng Jun led a delegation to attend the meeting. The A5 Chairman Meeting was rotated to be organized by Shenzhen International Airport this year, with the theme of “Building World-class airport cluster in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area through strengthening cooperation”.

A5 Chairmen delivered speeches respectively during the meeting, Chairman Deng Jun introduced a preliminary plan of “The Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area Development” prepared by Macau SAR Government about 2 roles, 3 orientations and 8 key points. Macau International Airport will follow the SAR Government's plan, and actively participate in the construction and development of world-class airport cluster in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area, which will definitely promote the great progress of the regional economy. It was mentioned in the 19th National Congress to support integration of Hong Kong and Macao into the national development plan, including the construction in the bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, cooperation among the Pearl River Delta, formulation of policy measures for the convenience of residents in Hong Kong and Macao to develop in the mainland.

Shenzhen International Airport raised three proposals: 1. To establish coordinating body at government level for building world-class airport cluster in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area; 2. To optimize the airspace management and allocation of resources, enhance the overall service capacity of the airport cluster with the development needs of regional cities as the central task; 3. To build a comprehensive transportation system of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao bay area with airports as the core, enhance the capacity of regional comprehensive transportation service. Besides, many leaders of civil aviation industry, national and foreign experts were invited to give a speech during the meeting, which brought about new thinking and inspiration to the audience.

Representatives of the Five Airports signed a Memorandum at the meeting for building airport cluster construction and airspace refinement management, and continual development of smart airports research.
