The 2019 A5 of GHM Greater Bay Area Chairman Meeting Held to Promote World-class Airports Development

The Chairman's meeting of Five Airports of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (A5) was held in Guangzhou on 14th - 15th Nov 2019. Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) - Dr. Deng Jun led a delegation to attend the meeting, which was co-organized by Guangdong Airport Authority, with the theme of “Implementing the Outline of Development Plan of the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area (hereinafter referred to as Outline), promoting the development of world-class airports”. Five airports signed a memorandum on this subject. Facing to the huge market potential and development opportunities of the bay area, A5 exchanged and shared information on infrastructure construction of each airport and jointly promoted the construction of world-class airports.

Representatives from A5 gave speeches on the airport infrastructure development. Mr. Sandro Kou, Director of Infrastructure Development Department of CAM introduced the extension project of Macau International Airport (MIA), MIA will fully cooperate on the MIA Master Plan, the application for reclamation will be submitted after the completion of construction plan and environmental assessment; interaction and coordination of Macau civil aviation infrastructure will be comprehensively strengthened to build a sea, land and air transportation hub of Macau, cross-border helicopters and general aviation services will be developed steadily. Guangzhou Baiyun Airport has accelerated the construction of terminal 3 and the fourth and fifth runways. Hong Kong Airport is actively promoting the construction of a three-runway system. Shenzhen Airport is fully advancing the satellite hall, three runways and other new round of expansion projects. Zhuhai Airport is actively promoting the reconstruction and expansion of the terminal.

Mr. Wang Fuqiang, Minister of Industrial Planning Department of China International Economic Exchange Center and Pro. Li Yanwei from Economics and Management College of China Civil Aviation University of were invited to share thorough reading on implementation of the Greater Bay Area airports development path and competitive synergy and future trends of A5.

Representatives of the Five Airports signed a Memorandum at the meeting, adhering to the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration, to establish a multi-party communication and communication mechanism in the construction of world-class airports and fine management of airspace. After the meeting, participants visited the Airport Operation Center and T2 of Baiyun Airport to experience the operation guarantee of the "integrated" control of the whole region and process.
