The Five Airports of Greater Pearl River Delta Chairman's Meeting Held in Zhuhai
Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Chairman of Executive Committee - Dr. Deng Jun led a delegation to attend the 5thFive Airports (A5) in the Pearl River Delta Chairman Meeting on June 28, 2013. The meeting was held at Zhuhai Harbour View Hotel & Resort. Top management of the five airports and other professionals attended the meeting including:Guangdong Airport Management Corporation, Airport Authority Hong Kong, Shenzhen Airport (Group) Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Airport Co., Ltd., Macau International Airport Company Limited, Zhuhai Airport Group Corporation, Hong Kong-Zhuhai Airport Management Co., Ltd., relevant Government Departments and other industry professionals. Delegation from CAM includes Chairman of the Executive Committee - Dr. Deng Jun, Chief of Executive Committee Office –Ms. Katy Lo, Deputy Director of Executive Committee Office & Chief of Corporate Communication and Policy Research Office –Ms. Vicki Mou, Officer of Corporate Communication and Policy Research Office –Ms. Kaz Ng.
The 5th Chairman meeting of the Five Airports of the Greater Pearl River Delta was rotated to be organized by Zhuhai Airport this year, with the theme "Innovative Development Model to Enhance Overall Competitiveness”. The Meeting began with the Chairman of Zhuhai Airport Group Corporation - Mr. Li Guoming delivering a welcome speech and Deputy President - Mr. Cai Zhipeng outlined the analysis studies conducted by the five airports. Following by Professor Zheng Tianxiang of National Sun Yat-Sen University GPRD Research Center delivered a presentation on the A5 airports positioning and development strategies.
In implementation of Framework Agreement on Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation and Framework Agreement on Macau/Guangdong Co-operation, representatives of the Five Airports signed a Memorandum at the meeting for continue development of the Greater PRD region aviation industry and deepening closer co-operation between five airports. Representatives include: Guangdong Airport Management Corporation General Manager - Mr. Zhang Kejian, Airport Authority Hong Kong Assistant General Manager of China Development and Industry & Government Affairs - Mr. Stanley Lam, Shenzhen Airport (Group) Co., Ltd. General Manager - Mr. Zhang Gongping, CAM Chairman of Executive Committee -Dr. Deng Jun and Zhuhai Airport Group Corporation Chairman - Mr. Li Guoming. Zhuhai Airport presented souvenirs to each member airports after the signing ceremony.
Representatives from each airport gave a keynote speech in the meeting respectively, Chairman of the Executive Committee of CAM - Dr. Deng Jun expressed that the action agenda ofA5 Chairman Meeting 2009 mentioned the development plan of PRD region, Macau International Airport (MIA) as a small-medium size multi-functional airport, the distance between Macao and PRD region had been shortened by the newly built Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway and further developed MIA express link service.With thegradual opening sub-concession right of MIA services, it is hoped that opening up the market to competitions would lead to enhancement of airport services and by then increase airport non-aeronautical revenues. The aviation industry requires long-term development plans, we should focus on personnel training and sustainable software optimization in the future. Dr. Deng proposed that the A5 Airports could enhance training by exchanges of professional employees for prolonged airport services quality improvements.
Macau International Airport’s designated report introduced the infrastructure and management of Green Airport. Since 2008, MIA started the sustainable development plan with "Green Airport" as our future direction and goals. MIA focused on the four main areas, we are committed to improve energy efficiency, carbon management, improve the surrounding environment and development of operational management standards. This is part of our social responsibility, as well as saving operation costs and enhances airport operational effectiveness.
