CAM Chairman Deng Jun Paid Visit to AACM President Simon Chan Set Together 2020 Working Projects
On 8th January 2020, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Dr. Deng Jun and his party paid a visit to the President of the Macau Special Administrative Region Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) Mr. Simon Chan. The purpose is to strengthen the communication between the two parties, summarize the works in 2019, discuss the work items in 2020, and set guidelines.
In summary of 2019, CAM made major investments in hardware and software for security, installation and upgrade of facilities and equipment, including the replacement of the airport apron and landside enclosure and installation of a 12-kilometer double-layer security fence. Introduce new security equipment to improve the intelligence of security systems. A border intrusion detection system is installed to detect illegal intrusions using thermal cameras and fence vibration technology, increase the number of CCTV system surveillance cameras to expand surveillance coverage. Increase manpower and strengthen training to meet aviation security requirements. CAM joint with AACM and Air Macau to have research and introduce the “Required Navigation Performance –Authorized Required” or RNP-AR approach procedures which was effective on 28th March 2019. Interim approval for operations was granted to Air Macau on 13th June, in which the visibility requirement changed from 3600m to 900m and cloud base from 720ft to 270ft, greatly improved operational safety and on-time performance.
After the successful introduction of the Coordinated Integrated Decision (CDM) system from the CAAC Southern China Air Traffic Management Bureau in 2019, the goal in 2020 will be to install the Airport Coordinated Integrated Decision (A-CDM) system in accordance with the guidelines of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The system is able to maximize the utilization of existing resources and reduce flight delays, conforming interaction among airport ground support, airlines and air traffic control agencies. In August 2019, AACM announced that the "Macau International Airport Master Plan" has been approved the reclamation application, clearly instructing to carry out the next stage of reclamation works, including environmental assessment and design. CAM, in accordance with the SAR Government arrangement, continues to follow up the next stage works, such as environmental impact assessment and application for sea use of the Airport Master Plan. CAM will also maintain communication with AACM to jointly drive forward airport reclamation. After completing the environmental assessment and design, it will be submitted to the Central Government for approval.
Airport services and passenger flow management will be one of the priorities in 2020. The two sides actively discuss various aspects of improvement and development measures and solutions. CAM expressed that it will hire a consulting company to comprehensively evaluate the current terminal and the southern expansion part, as reference to enhancement of the current procedures.
