2020 / 07 / 27

Aviation food mainly meets the meal needs of passengers and crew during the flight, and its safety is an important factor in ensuring aviation safety.  Therefore, the quality assurance capabilities and food safety control of airline catering companies have become important considerations for airlines, as to ensure the safety of flight operations.  On 23rd July, 2020, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Dr. Deng Jun and the Executive Committee members, which include: Mr. Chu Tan Neng, Mr. Kan Cheok Kuan, Mr. Lei Si Tai and Mr. Leung Henry Yee Hang, conducted field inspection on Macau Catering Service Co. Ltd (MCS), and exchanged opinions with General Manager, Ms. Judy Kang and her team.  Members of the Executive Committee walked through various facilities in the catering building and listened to the introduction from MCS about safety operation, production, epidemic prevention and control.

Under the influence of COVID-19, the passenger market has shrunk sharply; various industries related to aviation have been greatly affected.  Macau Catering Service Co. Ltd (MCS) has been in operation since November 1995.  During these 25 years from establishment, it guarantees the catering of different flights to and from Macau International Airport.  It grows together with the airport, and experiences various difficulties and challenges; facing the huge impact of the epidemic, the airline catering business dropped dramatically, in order to reduce the operating burden, MCS actively seek for non-airline local partners, hoping to open up new source of income and ease the company’s financial pressure.  During the inspection, members of the Executive Committee had a deeper understanding about the operation of MCS and affirmed their long-term work and contributions.  The relationship between airport operators and Macau International Airport is closely related.  CAM will continue to uphold the concept of overcoming difficulties together, through good communication; the two parties can cooperate closely and support each other.  CAM will conduct in-depth analysis of the suggestions and opinions by MCS during the inspection, in order to make policy adjustments or cooperation.

Participants at the meeting also includes: CAM – Director of Planning and Commercial Development Department (PCD) Ms. Winnie Hsu, Director of Executive Committee Office (ECO) Ms. Katy Lo, Deputy Director of Corporate Communication & Policy Research Office (CPO) Ms. Adrina Ho.  MCS – Director of Business Development & Operation, Mr. Nelson Lo, Manager of Human Resource & Administration Manager, Mr. Miguel Leong, Finance and Administration Manager, Mr. Terry Ieong, Customer Service Manager, Mr. Frederick Lee and Assistant Quality Manager, Ms. Jayden Kou.
