Launch of Kuo Kim – Macau International Airport Nucleic Acid Test Station

Nucleic Acid Tests (NAT) services will be available at Macau International Airport (MIA) 3rd level of Passenger Terminal Building starting from 13th January 2021.  The relevant sampling services will be operated by a third-party testing institution, Kuo Kim (Macau) Hygiene Testing Company Limited, a recognized testing institution by Macau SAR Health Bureau (SSM).  NAT services provided are only applicable to air passengers with valid tickets, staff from related entities of MIA, and borders’ frontline staff registered with SSM.  Cost for each test is MOP 100.  However, first time complimentary NAT service is not applicable at the MIA NAT facility.  In addition, aside from the registered borders’ frontline staff who are required to undergo nasopharyngeal swab sampling method, other eligible users testing at own expense can choose either nasopharyngeal swab or oropharyngeal swab sampling method.  Eligible users should make an appointment to undergo nucleic acid tests at MIA via the designated NAT scheme’s online appointment system, test result will be also be linked to the “Macau Health Code”.

 

From mid of November 2020, the Executive Committee member of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) suggested to kick off the feasibility study on the establishment of novel coronavirus nucleic acid testing at the airport. With opinions from relevant departments during consultations, full support by the Company’s Board of Directors and the implementation of Marketing Department and Airport Operations Department to cooperate with the testing service operator recognized by SSM, the NAT station with full-range services of the Greater China region has been set-up at MIA for passengers’ convenience to facilitate NAT procedures in urgent need, which higher the service quality of Macau International Airport. Along with the latest epidemic prevention requirements and development trends, MIA will constantly adjust existing services and measures in a timely manner for further enhancement. Through implementing a series of epidemic prevention and anti-epidemic measures to gradually promote the recovery of the aviation industry under the premise of ensuring the safety and hygiene of air travel.

 

In addition, Macau International Airport has successfully attained the Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) awarded by the Airport Council International (ACI) on 3rd November 2020 (Macau Time), as the 21st airport to be accredited in the region and the 110th worldwide, expecting to enhance passengers’ confidence and travel with peace of mind. Recently, it was notified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) that Macau International Airport and Air Macau will be awarded with “Double Gold Certificates – Fast Travel” respectively, making MIA the 12th airport to obtain this certification in Asia. This demonstrates the affirmation of IATA to significant achievement and effort of MIA made for improving passengers experience and promoting ease travel.
