CAM Held 9th Epidemic Prevention Response Committee Meeting Safeguarding the Airport with Personnel Epidemic Prevention
The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide as of 26th January, 2021 exceeded 100 million, of which a total of 89,272 confirmed cases were reported in Mainland, and 11,159 confirmed cases were reported in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan districts. Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) held the 9th Epidemic Prevention Working Group Meeting on 27th January, 2021, to follow up on the issues and suggestions which was made at the 8th working group meeting on 25th November, 2020, and to grasp the situation of manpower arrangement and operation plan before Chinese New Year, to optimize service and future work plan.
The 9th Epidemic Prevention Working Group Meeting was hosted by Chairman of the Executive Committee of CAM Dr. Deng Jun, Executive Directors Mr. Chu Tan Neng, Mr. Kan Cheok Kuan and Mr. Leung Henry Yee Hang and related Department Directors, General Manager of Airport Information Management Solutions (AIMS) and Acting General Manager of SEMAC Security Company have joined the meeting, to discuss and report on different fields of work.
In the field of operation, Macau International Airport (MIA) cooperated with special quarantine operations for flights carried Macau residents returning to Macau, to draw up the details of the implementation plan, proper arrangement have made in the designated waiting area, full disinfection of the entire terminal building have performed after the operation to ensure normal operation of the airport in the second day. In the earlier time, cold chain workers were found to be infected with COVID-19 in domestic and foreign countries, CAM actively cooperated with the Municipal Administration Bureau (IAM) to carry out disinfection and control measure for the cold chain goods and related personnel in Menzies’ warehouse as to prevent the epidemic effectively.
Kuo Kim – Macau International Airport Nucleic Acid Test Station was launched on 13th January, 2021, on average, more than 100 qualified persons made appointments for testing every day, operation was generally smooth. At the current stage, we are actively coordinating with relevant units for the arrangement and feasibility of rapid testing, as to enhance the functionality of the testing center.
At present, passengers on outbound flights need to prepare health declarations, and the time for completing check-in and customs clearance has been extended. From November 2020, the MIA volunteer team has been formed to help passengers on the spot filling in the required information such as the mainland health declaration. More effective methods, with the goal of facilitating passengers, the Airport Operations Department will have new plan in the short term. At the same time, Air Macau has opened Yiwu route at the beginning of the year according to the plan, and will resume flights to Qingdao and Hefei in early February. CAM will pay close attention to the market dynamics of the routes and try its best to cooperate and support.
In response to the National Health Commission’s recommendation for residents to spend their years in place, the Novel Coronavirus Response Coordination Center of SAR Government has conducted research and judgments earlier and urged local residents to stay in Macau to spend the years and avoid unnecessary use during the Lunar New Year as there are still certain risk factors in different places. The Airport Operations Department of CAM, AIMS, and SEMAC have respectively learned about the residential areas of their front-line employees who are responsible for the daily work of the airport, and have made plans for flexible shift arrangements. After communication, employees understand the importance of cooperating with epidemic prevention and will also spend their lives in safe areas. The Director of the Airport Operations Department has submitted a list of priority vaccination personnel for frontline personnel in accordance with the requirements of government departments. The CAM office building will be installed with temperature measuring devices to carry out comprehensive epidemic prevention measures, implement the company's active epidemic prevention work needs, in prevention of loopholes in various aspects and continuation to improve and supplement, in order to do our best to protect Macau's international gateway.
