On 30th November 2021, Mr. Chu Tan Neng, Executive Director of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM), visited Macao Geophysical and Meteorological Bureau (SMG) to exchange views with the Director of SMG, Mr. Leung Weng Kun, on the professional aspect of meteorological support to Macau International Airport (MIA) and air traffic services, while discuss the future development of the airport and cooperation plan between the two parties.

Mr. Chu sincerely thanked SMG for its full support to the development of Macau aviation industry over the years and affirmed the high quality and efficiency of meteorological services provided. Since Macau International Airport started operation in 1995, business has steadily developed.  In 2019, MIA passenger traffic has registered a record of 9.61 million under safe and efficient operation.  All these achievements could not be possible without support and cooperation from all airport entities including Aeronautical Meteorological Center (AMC) of SMG.  AMC has been playing a very important role to ensure airport operation safety, especially in severe weather conditions such as thunderstorm warning issued and typhoon signal hoisted period.  He looks forward to further exchange and research on meteorological service professions subjected to meet the needs of airport future development.

Mr. Leung warmly welcomed Mr. Chu and his delegation and thanked CAM for its full support for the work of aviation meteorological services along the years, particularly the financial support on personnel budget, office workplace, investment and replacement of equipment.  Mr. Leung has also introduced the service model and categories of SMG, hoping to provide quality meteorological services to the public and accurate aviation meteorological service supporting the development of MIA.

Subsequently, the delegation was arranged a visit to SMG Headquarter and various meteorological equipment and facilities.  Both parties look forward to the collaborative developments in the future.
