Release on Close Contact Case of a Patrol Car Driver in Airport
Macau International Airport(MIA) has made the following announcement regarding the notification by the Health Bureau (SSM) this afternoon that an airport patrol car driver of the SEMAC Security Company (SEMAC) was listed as a close contact:
Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) received a report this morning (15th Jan 2022) that a staff of SEMAC Security Company who is responsible to drive airport patrol car had been informed by the Health Bureau (SSM) that he was listed as a close contact of a confirmed case in Zhuhai. Due to the nature of work, the SEMAC employee has been taking Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) every 48 hours and the result of the staff were negative on 12th, 14th and 15th of January. The staff was sent to the public health center for medical observation currently. The vaccination rate of employees of SEMAC Security Company is 97% and the employee has been taken with two doses of vaccines.
Upon learning of the incident, the Airport Operations Department (AOD) of CAM immediately carried out thorough disinfection work on the vehicles used, the equipment ever been in touch, inside and outside the premises. For other employees who had contact with the close contact before, NAT test was immediately arranged, their movement at the airport was suspended and were arranged to a specified area waiting for NAT results and the epidemiological examination conducted by SSM. SEMAC Security Company has arranged an extra NAT for staff working today. Some related staff are being arranged for NAT again and hotel quarantine by Health Bureau.
In addition, the Airport Operations Department will enhance the frequency of NAT tests for staff after consultation with Health Bureau to enhance the protective barrier.
Macau Internaltional Airport will closely monitor the situation and maintain close liaison with Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
