Airport Carbon Emission Management Training
As the “carbon peaking” and “carbon neutrality” have been formally incorporated into the national strategies, the aviation industry as one of the key industries for energy conservation and emission reduction, is obliged to serve for the development of the green industry under the goal of “dual carbon”. On this basis, Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has issued relevant documents to guide the positive progress of promoting energy conservation and emission reduction in civil aviation. In January 2022, CAAC issued the “14th Five-Year Plan” for the green development of civil aviation, it laid down the guiding philosophy, fundamental principles, goals and requirements as well as main tasks for the green development of civil aviation. The Plan offers effective guidance to the green, low-carbon and sustainable development of the civil aviation industry in Mainland China progressing from “energy conservation and emissions reduction” to “green development”.
In order to acquire better understanding on the national “dual carbon” and “green development” strategies in civil aviation and continuously promote the mechanism of carbon emission management, CAM has arranged four colleagues from Airport Operations Department to attend the half-day online training organized and delivered by the China Civil Airports Association (CCAA) on 31st March 2022.
Regardless of the on-line training limiting interaction between our trainees with the speakers and with representatives of other airports, the overall feedback to the course was positive. Our trainees acquired an overview of the goals, strategies, and revolution of carbon emission of aviation and airports in Mainland China, which is beneficial to assess and recognize Macau International Airport’s efforts and achievement to manage and reduce CO2 emissions. Currently, our airport has been certified with the achievement of Level 2 “Reduction” within Airport Carbon Accreditation launched by Airport Council International (ACI).
