New Chairman of the Executive Committee of CAM Mr. Chan Weng Hong and Executive Directors Visited AIMS, SEMAC and MIA to Inspect Business Operation

Mr. Chan Weng Hong, the new Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) with the four Executive Directors, Mr. Chu Tan Neng, Mr. Kan Cheok Kuan, Mr. Lei Si Tai and Mr. Leung Henry Yee Hang on 30th and 31st March 2023, paid visits to various departments and two subsidiaries, Airport Information Management Solutions (AIMS) and SEMAC Security Company (SEMAC) to understand the business and operation status of each business units.

During the visits, the Executive Committee members conducted exchanges and discussions on the overall development plan of MIA, such as the MIA Master Plan, finance management, intelligence and information technology development, airport passenger service optimization, commercial area arrangement of the terminal building, market development on passengers, logistics and the business aviation, office documentation management, corporate image establishment and protection, as well as internal audit. Chairman Chan shared his professional experience in local civil aviation industry and gave guiding opinions and suggestions on the future development of MIA. He is expecting to build a smoother foundation for the airport’s future development planning and unify the goal and vision to make adjustments and optimizations according to the current situation.

Chairman Chan concerns about the smart airport development plan and believed that consistent optimization on airport information management system could effectively improve the safety and efficiency of all aspects of the airport operations. At the same time, the security work is also the top priority at the airport operation, it is expected that SEMAC will continue to ensure the airport operation in safe and smooth conditions with well preparation for the full recovery of tourism: to optimize the security check procedures and manpower deployment, and to improve work efficiency to cope with the development of the airport. The EC members also expressed concern about the progress of the expansion project of MIA. At present, MIA Expansion and Reclamation Working Group is carrying out a series of preparatory work on Hydrologic Monitoring, Environmental Monitoring and Ecological Restoration, which will be gradually implemented in accordance with the reclamation project schedule.

An inspection was done at the airport where Mr. Gary Geng, Director of Airport Operations Department (AOD) of CAM introduced to Chairman Chan the divisions and units of works and responsibilities of each airport operation division, the basic operation status of their departments, the progress of key projects and the difficulties they have met. Chairman Chan indicated that the construction projects of the new Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) and Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) are very important airport operation facilities, as well as the major focus of Macau International Airport (MIA) this year. It is believed that its role and function are to maintain the safe operation of the airport, through multi-system integration to achieve real-time operation monitoring and improve the emergency coordinated response capabilities of the airport in various business units. In addition, the Executive Committee members paid attention to the current operation of the Airport Collaborative Decision-Making System (ACDM), the Apron Management System and the operation status of the Electronic Flight Progress Strip System (EFPS) in the Control Tower at MIA, etc.  The current ACDM data has been connected with the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Flights Collaborative Decision-Making System (CDM) to achieve data sharing, so as to improve the transparency and fairness of aircraft slot allocation. This lays a solid foundation for unify GBA air traffic control coordination platform and improves the efficiency of apron operation and the satisfaction level of passengers to MIA.

 

After listening to the work reports of various departments and subsidiaries, the new Chairman of the Executive Committee has fully affirmed the work of each department and unit, reflecting the professionalism and team spirit of the colleagues, and working together for the development of MIA. At the same time, the EC members encouraged all departments and units of facing a more complex and changing business environment after the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also expecting to continue to maintain “the People and Honesty-oriented” principle, and welcome every passenger and airport service user with high standards and high-quality services. With more innovative ideas to be injected into the works, it will continuously optimize and improve the efficiency of airport operations and services, give fully play to the spirit of teamwork and jointly start with a new chapter in developing of MIA.
