MIA Reports 18% Growth in Passenger Traffic in CNY
Macau International Airport (MIA) had a busy Chinese New Year in 2018. During the holidays from 16th to 20th February 2018 (1st to 5th day of Lunar Year), MIA welcomed 120,000 passengers and handled over 900 flight movements, grew by 18% and 14% respectively comparing to the traffic of 2017 CNY.
In respect of the new air services, MIA has successfully attracted 2 new Airlines flying to Macau in early 2018 including the Royal Air Charter Service of the Philippines and Small Planet Airlines of Cambodia. MIA has expanded our air network by adding 3 new international routes, including Kalibo of Philippines, Siem Reap of Cambodia and Bali of Indonesia. At the same time the extra flights during CNY was doubled over last year.
To enrich the seasonal atmosphere, MIA embellished the terminal building with festive CNY decorations, and also arranged a series of CNY themed activities at the terminal; including God of Fortune blessings, distributing candies in the terminal, and etc., adding to the joyful festive spirit at MIA.
MIA will continue to incorporate the tourism objectives of the Macau SAR government’s policy, maintaining close cooperation with the airport’s operating partners, and expanding air services network, aiming to provide passengers more traveling options. MIA will continue upholding the mission of “Safety, Efficiency, and Effectiveness”, to provide passengers with comfortable and convenient travel experience, and to achieve further accomplishment in the future. As always, MIA actively cooperates with relevant organizations and operational partners to ensure smooth run of the airport; and expand our route network to offer passengers with more travel options.
