Airport Council International (ACI) Asia Pacific Region held its Board Meeting, Regional Assembly, Conference and Exhibition in Singapore from 22nd to 25th May 2012. As a member airport and Board Member of the ACI Asia Pacific Region, Ms Suning Liu, Executive Director of CAM-Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. attended the aforesaid Meetings, Conference and Exhibition in Singapore, and took this opportunity to discuss in the Board Meeting with other ACI Asia Pacific airports the operational impact of low cost carriers (LCC) on airports .
The theme of this year’s ACI Asia Pacific Conference is “Transforming Airports: Innovations and Opportunities”. Guest speakers point out in the Conference that the social and economic development of a city is inevitably connected to the development of its airport, which links a city to the world, and airports act as platform for economic, tourist, and cultural exchanges, therefore airports need to grow with innovations constantly.
Although the aviation industry in the Asia Pacific region is experiencing rapid growth, airports are facing constant pressure of rising operation costs and yet to provide better infrastructure, to secure safe operation, to improve customer services, and to take measures for protecting the environment. In addition, the LCC trend, new technologies, changing passenger profiles and demands, etc., all these bring impacts to the traditional operation mode of airports. Therefore, airports need to transform themselves continuously with innovative ideas, so as to cope with the business trend of airlines and stakeholders, to improve operational flow and provide customer-oriented services, and to prepare ahead for future development.
