CAM Representatives Visit Shenzhen General Aviation Industry
State Council of the People’s Republic of China released Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in 2019, stating that to expedite the development of general aviation and to steadily develop cross-boundary helicopter services in Greater Bay Area (GBA). To respond to the guiding opinions of developing general aviation in GBA and absorb general aviation industry experience, the representatives from Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM), Ms. Emma Tang – Deputy Director of Logistic and General Aviation Development Department (LGD) and Ms. Emma Zhou - Officer of LGD visit general aviation industries in Shenzhen during 8th - 10th January 2020, exchange opinions with the industries on tendencies of general aviation development in GBA, share industry experience as well as future trends on general aviation development of GBA.
On 8th January, the representatives of CAM visit CITIC Offshore Helicopter Co., Ltd. (COHC) Nantou heliport, share experience of general aviation facility planning, helicopter route development and heliport operation. On 9th January, CAM representatives visit helicopter base of Shenzhen Eastern General Aviation Company (Eastern GAC) in Bao'an International Airport, meet the Chairman of Eastern GAC, Mr. Zhao Qi and his operation team. Eastern GAC launched Shenzhen-Hong Kong and Guangzhou-Hong Kong helicopter flight services in June and September 2019 and aims to open cross-boundary helicopter service to Macau soon. The two parties exchange thoughts on prospective of general aviation development of GBA, discuss the potentials to open cross-boundary helicopter service from Macau, Shenzhen to other GBA destinations, improve GBA low-altitude network and build GBA low-altitude airspace platform. On 10th January, CAM representatives visit Astro Air Low Altitude Express Co., Ltd (Astro LAE) and have a site visit to One Shenzhen Bay helipad operated by Astro LAE team. The helipad is the first elevated helicopter in CBD certified by Civil Aviation Administration of China in Mainland China, which is equipped with meteorological instruments, members-only resting lounge and a hydraulic elevator going straight to the helipad. The representatives discuss with Marketing Director of Astro LAE, Mr. Darwin Zhang, their helipad facility design experience and authorized operation service mode to property owner.
With national policy and opening environment of Macau’s aviation industry, Macau International Airport has been constantly focusing on general aviation facility improvement and exploring cross-boundary helicopter flight service. MIA expect to make use of policy and support from Macau SAR government, promote communications with GBA general aviation industries, and enhance low-altitude network building, expedite general aviation service upgrade in Macau.
