Macau International Airport Cooperated with Special Quarantine Operations for Flights Carried Macau Residents Returning to Macau

On 21st January 2021, a total of 109 Macau residents carried by two Air Macau flights departing from Tokyo Japan to Macau. When Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Airport Operations Department (AOD) acknowledged the flight information earlier, the Airport Director and relevant personnel have immediately participated in a coordination meeting organized by the Macau SAR Government to cope with the flight arrangements of the special quarantine operation, involved joint research with relevant departments on aircraft parking areas and delineating designated areas, necessary facilities equipped for rapid nucleic acid testing and immigration procedures for the passengers. CAM has also organized related airport entities to attend the infection control training organized by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in advance to enhance their understanding on related infection prevention measures and the correct method of wearing personal protective equipment.

 

Airport Director has also organized various airport coordination meetings for the implementation plan and informed Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) of temporary adjustment of zones as required. At the meantime, details of implementation plan for the flights was coordinated, including vehicle guidance provided, remote parking stand and gate allocation, passenger routes set-up on the apron and arrangement for related facilities and equipment as need.

 

On 21st January, Airport Crisis Management Center (ACMC) was activated on 11:00 for the preparation of the arrival flights NX861 and NX867, two flights were landed on MIA at 19:51 and 21:18 respectively.  All front-line staffs at the airport who need to provide services for the 2 flights wore a full set of personal protective equipment 30 minutes prior to the flight arrival time and assisted passengers and cabin crew to disembark by batches, and proceed to the designated area for rapid nucleic acid testing and immigration procedures. The security company has assigned 7 securities to maintain order in the area. In the designated waiting area, passengers’ seats were arranged at a considerable distance.  Hot water, heater and enhanced Wi-Fi service were also provided as to endeavor to create a comfortable waiting environment for the passengers.

 

After the completion of flight arrangement, staff from Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) arrived at 03:00 to perform disinfection at areas where the passengers and related personnel of the two flights have been in contact, while the airport also arranged cleaning company to disinfect the entire terminal building to ensure normal operation the following day.
