As the Lunar New Year is approaching, in response to the National Health Commission’s recommendation for residents to spend their years in place. The Novel Coronavirus Response Coordination Center of SAR Government has conducted research and judgments earlier and urged local residents to stay in Macau to spend the years and avoid unnecessary use during the Lunar New Year as there are still certain risk factors in different places. Macau International Airport maintains 7-day 24-hour operation during Chinese New Year. On 9th and 10th February 2021, Chairman of the Executive Committee of CAM Dr. Deng Jun, Executive Directors Mr. Kan Cheok Kuan, Mr. Lei Si Tai and Mr. Leung Henry Yee Hang have visited various airport operation entities, included Airport Information Management Solutions (AIMS), SEMAC Security Company, Macau Business Aviation Center Limited (MBAC) and TAG Aviation Asia (Macau) Limited (TAG Macau), Menzies Macau Airport Services Ltd., Passenger Terminal Building and Airport Traffic Control Tower Operation Sites, as well as Macau Catering Services Company Limited (MCS).

All airport operators are earnestly implement “Spending Years in Place” while pay close attention to the changing situations of the passenger and cargo market to adjust the plan dynamically and arranged personnel to work on shifts for 24 hours to ensure the operation of airport operating equipment and systems. Along with the activation and smooth operation of Collaborative Decision Making System (A-CDM) and the Electronic Flight Progress Strip system (EFPS) of the airport traffic control tower, the airport operation has been brought into a new era with electronic and automated methods.

In order to lower risk of crowds and control the people flow effectively, Airport Operations Department (AOD) will set-up additional checkpoints in the restricted area of departure hall to verify the health code after immigration, which passengers requires to present at their destinations. Additional security guards will also be equipped for designated inspections while arranged more ground handling staffs and passenger service assistants for passengers so that they could travel with peace of mind. Meanwhile, detailed process management is expected to lay the foundation for future enhancement on handling capabilities.
