Special Meeting of Epidemic Prevention Response Committee Member — Review and Upgrade Prevention Mechanism from Time to Time
Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Dr. Deng Jun convened a special meeting of Epidemic Prevention Response Committee, Executive Directors of CAM: Mr. Chu Tan Neng, Mr. Kan Cheok Kuan, Mr. Lei Si Tai, committee members and the director of relevant department reviewed the community epidemic situation in Macau in light of the normal operation of the airport in order to dynamically upgrade and improve the established epidemic prevention mechanism.
Starting from notification received in the evening of 24th September 2021, due to the fact that the workplace of the two patients is close to the airport, while maintaining communication with relevant government departments, Airport Operation Department (AOD) also prepared emergency measures according to the pre-arranged contingency plan. By order of the Acting Chief Executive, as assessed by the COVID-19 Response Coordination Centre, the Macau SAR has been declared on immediate preventive status with effect from 00:00 on 25th September 2021. At the same time, all people leaving Macau must have proof of negative nucleic acid tests within 48 hours. The Centre urged people not to leave unless necessary. At the press conference at 9 am on 25th September 2021, the Macau government announced the second round of nucleic acid tests for all Macau residents. Macau International Airport is one of the stations. In order not to affect the service of providing the test result report to passengers, AOD helps to print the reports at the departure floor of Passengers Terminal Building to the air passengers who have done the NAT test for the purpose of outbound of Macau and inbound to their destinations.
Chairman of the Executive Committee of CAM Dr. Deng Jun presided over the meeting and pointed out the need to constantly remind staff to remain high vigilant towards epidemic prevention in light of the cases 65 and 66. There are currently 11 COVID-19 variants, and due to the special work nature of the civil aviation industry, airport is an international port, and staff often have chance to make contact with high-risk people. At present, the vaccination rate of staff is over 70%. He encouraged staff to take vaccinations to form a barrier. At the same time, they need to enhance their own immunity against the virus.
In response to the updated immigration policy over the past two days, Executive Director of CAM Mr. Chu Tan Neng stated that SEMAC Security Company has organized hotel accommodation for its staff, streamlined manpower and at the same time strictly controlled for prevention.
Executive Director of CAM Mr. Kan Cheok Kuan, believed that while the epidemic prevention work is becoming regular, property management companies should not slack up on the epidemic prevention checking work and management of the office building. Up to now, no report from staff living in the red and yellow code areas is received. Relevant work pre-arrangement plan will be reviewed and adjustments will be made if necessary.
Executive Director of CAM Mr. Lei Si Tai stressed that front-line staff should not relax the epidemic prevention work, and must wear masks, gloves and other epidemic prevention equipment to avoid causing unimaginable impact.
Director of AOD of CAM Mr. Gary Geng strengthened the prevention work in early morning on 25th September 2021 after being notified. He required all airport staff to conduct nucleic acid tests on the weekend to ensure safety. He will continue to maintain close communication with the relevant government departments and make the prevention work more detailed to minimize risks and improve protection to staff.
Director of Marketing Department of CAM Mr. Eric Fong said that due to the two imported correlation case, besides to the change of outbound policy, some of the residential area in the Mainland required people entering from Macau to be subjected to community isolation and self-health management isolation which was not conducive to the recovery of civil aviation and tourism industries. Only after the epidemic stabilizes could confidence be gradually built in the market.
Director of Finance and Administration Department of CAM Ms. Grace Cheang said that with reference to the guidelines issued by the Civil Service Bureau to all public departments, CAM has done evaluation and notified staff on 26th September 2021 about the suspension on the requirement for unvaccinated civil servants to present nucleic acid test certificates until further notice. Company would make dynamic adjustments according to the development of the epidemic.
