Macau International Airport Organized Epidemic Prevention Drill

In order to strictly follow the epidemic prevention requirements of the Macau SAR Government and strengthen the contingency measures of Macau International Airport (MIA), Airport Epidemic Prevention Drill was organized by MIA on 16th November 2021, to further enhance internal communication with different airport entities. The drill started at 10 a.m. in the morning of the day simulating three airport staff who were handling flights from medium-high risk areas were confirmed by Macau Health Bureau that their Nucleic Acid Test result were positive. Control and Disease Preventive Centre (CDC) then immediately provided epidemic prevention guidelines to the relevant staff and the airport while coordinated related parties to follow up with the situation. Upon the notification was received, MIA immediately activated the emergency response plan and coordinated various airport entities to implement corresponding measures, including self-isolation and put on Protective Prevention Equipment (PPE) immediately, the personnel who had close contact with the reported staff were arranged to wait at another isolated area for further handling, to temporarily enclose off the relevant areas restricting personnel entry and exit, other staff working in the vicinity were sent to the temporary assembly point and wait for further instructions, to perform disinfection procedures and so on.

The drill concluded at 11 a.m. and all participated airport entities were capable to implement the measures in accordance with the action plan. The drill went smoothly and achieved the expected goal. The participated entities included CAM Airport Operations Department, CDC of Macau Health Bureau, Airport CPSP, Airport DBA, SEMAC Security Company, Menzies Macau Airport Services Limited and East Sun Cleaning Service Limited. In addition, the Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) also sent representatives to participate in the exercise as observers.
