On 8th September 2023, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Mr. Chan Weng Hong and Executive Director of CAM Mr. Chu Tan Neng, received a visit from Mr. Ma Bing, Director General of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Central and Southern Regional Administration and the delegation. Both parties have conducted in-depth exchanges and have achieved a number of consensuses on jointly promoting the high-quality development of the civil aviation industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the cooperation among air traffic control units and airports within the Greater Bay Area.

Mr. Chan Weng Hong, Chairman of the Executive Committee of CAM, first delivered an opening speech, warmly welcomed Mr. Ma Bing and his delegation to visit Macau International Airport. He also thanked for the long-term strong support of CAAC Central and Southern Regional Administration to the development of Macau International Airport and looks forward to have more cooperation opportunities in the future. Mr. Geng Yajun, Director of Airport Operations Department of CAM, introduced main business of the airport, the airport expansion projects and the design of T2 and new heliport, airspace structure and air traffic control capacity, communication navigation and surveillance system replacement project in detail and concluded four suggestions including optimizing the flight procedures at Macau International Airport, integrating the operation of air traffic control in the Greater Bay Area, setting up new entry and exit for helicopter routes, strengthening the functions and cooperation in Hengqin, such as the Hengqin-Zhuhai-Macao Terminal and cargo transportation business.

Mr. Ma Bing expressed his gratitude for the warm reception Macau International Airport and stated that the main purpose of this visit is to follow up on the progress after the ten-point consensus at the High-Quality Development Forum of the civil aviation industry hosted by them in April this year (2023). It is aiming to truly understand the development needs of the civil aviation industry in Hong Kong and Macau, and to better coordinate and speed up the progress of various tasks. Mr. Ma Bing hoped that under the guidance of the National Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Outline, cooperation in the sharing of emergency equipment, integration of airspace planning and obstacle clearance management among all airports in the Bay Area should be promoted as soon as possible, in order to contribute in building a domestic and international dual circulation channel for the high-quality development of the civil aviation industry.
