With an increasing number of Macau residents departing from Macau International Airport (MIA) to tourist destinations, the demand of car park spaces at MIA became higher. In order to improve the condition of parking spaces at MIA, Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. (CAM) commenced the optimization work of car parks this year. Recently, the optimization work of South car park has been completed, and shall continued working on the renovation of North car park and the new car park by phases.

The optimization work is divided into three phases, first is rearranging of parking spaces at the South car park. Second phase is to renovate the North car park for the upcoming North terminal extension project and third phase is planning to build a new airport car park. The total vehicles parking spaces will be increased by 50% from 446 to 664 after the completion of whole car park optimization work. The whole project is expected to be completed within this year, to cope with the development of MIA as well as reducing the impact to public.
