Macau Travel Promotion in Dongguan
Macau International Airport Company Limited in line with Air Macau, EVA Air, TransAsia Airways, Viva Macau, Air Asia, Airlink Express and Macau International Digital Portal Co., Ltd. (Macaufly.com) together brought the “Let the Excitement Begins in Macau” promotion to Dongguan China in the afternoon of 10th May, introducing the easiness of the One Checkpoint Two Customs Express Link service to Macau International Airport. The event was successfully held with the kind participation of Macau Government Tourist Office and Taiwan Businessmen Association Dongguan at Cinese Hotel Dongguan.
The objective of this promotion was to widely introduce among the tourism trade and Taiwan businessmen in Dongguan, displaying the recent cross straits flight development and the convenience of the airport road service whisking travelers to Dongguan. Ms Grace Cheang, Macau International Airport Company Acting Director of Marketing Department addressed in the opening and said the “One Checkpoint; Two Customs” Express Link Service provides the best comfort to travelers especially those Taiwanese frequent flyers, saving them with the minimum travel time into China. Since the service introduction in mid 2005, the utilization recorded more than 55,000 passenger times and the single month of April has 6,000 passenger times. It was thus anticipated with the reopening of Hengqin Border this early May, more Taiwanese travelers would be using the service to travel across the border. The Express Link Service direct to Dongguan would be a hassle and bustle free journey taking around two and a half hours. The seamless service had greatly enhanced travel with shorter queuing time and the exclusive luggage handling service. Ms Cheang said that the present airport flight network became more diversified and with the low airfare and convenient ticketing distribution and sales channel, it could mean a better alternative to nearby residents and too to the Taiwan businessman to enjoy leisure travel via Macau International Airport. While Macau itself could be a stopover for a taste of local delicacies, the innovative gaming and entertainment facilities and to see around the historical World Heritage sites.

By far, around 200,000 Taiwanese now resided in Dongguan with most of them are Taiwan businessmen who frequently travel between the cross straits, and the group accounts for one of the major passenger component of Macau International Airport. Airlines and the industry associates actively introduced to the Taiwan Businessmen Association members and the Outbound travel agencies with the latest travel products. The event was successfully held with more than 120 people of attendance. The guests were especially interested in the new travel development and the competitive travel products. In additional to the expanding network and the exclusive seamless service of One Checkpoint, Two Customs service, this crossover travel via Macau was even more tempting.
From the beginning of the year, the newly established carriers Viva Macau is in service, in addition to the increase of flight frequency and new routes launched by existing airlines, Macau International Airport recorded sustainable passenger growth. Until April 2007, the accumulated passenger number recorded 1,752,453 passenger times. Plus, the usual peak of Easter Holidays, April passenger number recorded as the highest single month with 500,724 passenger times, up 16%. In average, it recorded 70% of seat factor for all airlines. While Shenzhen Airlines, Air Asia, Tiger Airways, Air Macau and TranAsia Airways have outstanding performance.
