MIA Participated at the 14th EAAA Annual Meeting

The 14th EAAA Annual Meeting was held on 13-14 November 2014 at Tokyo, organized by Tokyo International Air Terminal Corporation (TIAT). Representatives from all 13 EAAA-members participated the meeting. Dr. Deng Jun – Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) lead a delegation to attend the meeting.

The theme this year was "New Strategies for Inbound Tourists", Macau International Airport (MIA) gave a presentation on “How to Elaborate MIA’s Advantages after the built up of HK-Zhuhai-Macao bridge?” As the international port of Macau, MIA provides Express Link service which allows passengers to be exempted from normal immigration procedures and seamless access to MIA and shunts more passengers from west coast of Pearl River and Hong Kong, Promoting the development of hotel tourism, convention and exhibition, catering entertainment to build Macau as "World Centre of Tourism and Leisure"

China, Japan and Korea are neighboring countries located in the East Asia-Pacific region. All three countries, with the world’s most dynamic economy within the region, are the strongest growing countries with great potentials in the global tourism market. They are also the important force stimulating the prosperity of Asian’s Tourism Industry. According to the speech given by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the numbers of passengers travelling within these three countries exceed 20 million passengers in the year 2014, in which the number of passengers travelling between China and Japan exceeded 5 million passengers, accounting for 0.3% of the total population of the two countries. Moreover the total number of passengers travelling between China and Korea alone reaches 10 million passengers, representing 0.7% of the total population of the two countries. The scale of communication and exchange of idea among the three countries will continue to expand.

Representatives from each EAAA-member introduced their “New Strategy”, exchanged and discussed their thoughts, strengthened their understanding of the current development trend of East Asian airports aiming to grow and develop altogether towards the same direction.  The working group confirmed in the meeting that the EAAA Annual Meeting for the upcoming year will be hosted, on rotation, by Shanghai Airport Authority.

Other representatives from CAM include Ms. Vicki Mou – Chief of Corporate Communication & Policy Research Office, Ms. Fiona Pun – Assistant to the Chairman of the Executive Committee and Ms. Miley Kou – Officer of Corporate Communication & Policy Research Office.

The 13 EAAA members include: China’s Capital Airports Holding Company, Shanghai Airport Authority, Guangdong Airport Authority, Airport Authority Hong Kong, Macau International Airport Co., Ltd. and Dalian International Airport; Japan's Central Japan International Airport Co., Ltd., Narita International Airport Corporation, Japan Airport Terminal Co., Ltd., New Kansai International Airport Co., Ltd. and Tokyo International Air Terminal Corporation; South Korea's Incheon International Airport Corporation and Korea Airport Corporation.
