Third Party Safety Assessment by China Civil Airports Association
Safety is one of the core values of Macau International Airport. The China Civil Airports Association (CCAA) was invited to perform safety assessment in Macau International Airport between 10th and 13th of November 2020.
Led by Mr. Su Ji Cheng, Deputy Secretary General of CCAA, experts and specialists from CCAA, MianYang Nanjiao Airport, Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, Haikou Meilan International Airport, Sanya Phoenix International Airport, Wenzhou Longwan International Airport and Center for Advanced Security Technologies (CAST) of Beijing gathered to exchange experience and conduct assessment on the two important safety matters, namely Bird-strike and Runway Incursion.
Under direction from the Airport Director Eng. António Barros, the Safety Manager of Airport Operations Department, Mr. Justin Ip, together with support from Airport Operations Division, Air Traffic Services Division and Engineering Maintenance Branch, explained to the CCAA team about the current airport operation situation and existing safety measures; as well as coordinated for their on-site inspection, data collection and debrief meetings. The CCAA team conducted a series of detailed checklists based on both ICAO requirements and standards of China civil aviation effectively to review and address safety recommendations to mitigate hazards from bird strike and runway incursion.
After the fruitful four-day inspection, a stronger link of safety cooperation has been formed between Macau International Airport and other airports in China with great appreciation to the efforts of CCAA.
