CAM Attended the Video Conference of 2021 Chairman’s Meeting of Five Airports of the GHM Greater Bay Area (A5) Explore the new airport management model in the post-epidemic era

Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Executive Director, Mr. Chu Tan Neng and Mr. Lei Si Tai attended the Video Conference of 2021 Chairman’s meeting of Five Airports of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (A5) on 10th November 2021. This meeting is hosted by the Airport Authority of Hong Kong on a rotating basis. The theme this year is “The new airport management model in the post-epidemic era”. The discussion focused on how airport managers can break through their inherent thinking, use innovative management models to get out from the haze of the epidemic in the post-epidemic era after being hit by the epidemic.

Executive Director of CAM, Mr. Chu Tan Neng noted that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 last year, even if the epidemic has gradually under control and come to the post-epidemic period, the airport operation must not be taken lightly. It must be vigilant at all times to avoid losing the previous efforts. Facing the "fuse" mechanism between cities, how to quickly respond to changes has become an important issue. Continuously improving to the epidemic prevention mechanism and emergency procedures, effectively implementation to “guarding against the importation of cases, the resurgence of domestic infections, keep prevention on both passenger and cargo” is the only way to protect our airport staff and passengers. No matter how the epidemic situation changes, giving confidence to our passengers to be to travel by use of airport is important. Macau International Airport (MIA) will fully implement the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Development Plan Outline" and the future development goals in accordance with the "Implementation Opinions of the Civil Aviation Administration on Supporting the Coordinated Development of Civil Aviation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area", continue to optimize and renovate airport facilities and establish smart data in order to bring more convenient and more diversified travel experience for passengers to meet the needs of different passenger groups. With the official announcement of "The General Plan for Construction of the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin", the Macau International Airport (Hengqin) cargo terminal jointly constructed by Macau International Airport (MIA) and Nam Kwong Group can become a booster for the development of the cargo business.

Representatives of each member airport based on the topic "Transformation and Upgrade of Airport Services in the Post-epidemic Era", together with the experience on epidemic prevention over a year and changes in the service needs of travelers to give out their speeches. Director of Airport Operations Department of CAM, Mr. Gary Geng introduced the situation of MIA under the epidemic prevention and control, further to the current Mainland - Macau epidemic prevention policies and mechanisms, local outbreak of epidemic becoming an essential impact on aviation industry. As one of the important gateways, MIA keeps on communicate and coordinate with the Health Bureau and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to ensure dynamic changes in measures. At the same time, MIA keeps contact with other airports via the platform of ACI, to exchange on practical experience and follow the guidelines. According to market demand and environmental changes, optimize processes and release capacity, formulate plans and improve emergency procedures. It is important to implement employee epidemic prevention measures to ensure that employees have a healthy and hygienic working environment.

The A5 members namely, Guangdong Airport Authority, Airport Authority Hong Kong, Shenzhen Airport (Group) Company Limited, CAM and Zhuhai Aviation City and Airport Group. The A5 executives has also mutually agreed that the five airports of the region in Greater Bay Area should continue to build communication platforms, facilitate cooperation and connection and the meeting memorandum was signed after the meeting. Five airports have been cooperating and communicating for long time. It is believed that through deepening mutual cooperation between airports, integrate resources in the region for coordinated development. According to the country's civil aviation airport development strategy, seize the opportunity to fully implement the positioning of airports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
